I am running a Centerforce DF on my 03 GT with a few bolt-ons..gear...the usual. My question: Is this too much clutch for a regular street/ everday driver?
The reason I ask is I installed the clutch about two months ago and loved it. When I'm at a dead stop and take off its fine, when i go to release the pedal for second gear, I can feel and hear a clunk or thud coming from the rear end area. I took it to my local driveline shop and the guy told me(after a test drive) that my clutch pedal was way too hard, and that for just what I have I needed to run a stock clutch. He stated that the springs in the clutch were too stiff and demonstrated they were by cruising i think about 40 and in 4th gear(the gear was about one higher than the gear you would normally have it in) and letting me listen to a rattling noise coming from that area, I couldn't tell if it was clutch or tranny noise? I did my research before buying this clutch and didn't notice any problems. I also had my rear end rebuilt just a few weeks ago just to make sure there were no problems back there.
So not sure that the problem is but I really wish I could have a good clutch to hold the few times I do race track/street and have a smooth engamement. I drive my neighbor't GT and I am jealous because he just goes into the next gear very smoothly, and I have to wait a second so I dont get the thud.
