I am new to the 4.6L world, I totaled my HCI 95 gt and now I have a 2000 GT. You guys seem to love the Centerforce DF, the 94-95 guys hate it for a daily driver because they say it graps to good?! I bought this car needing a clutch so I need to make a decision. I am down to CF DF, or FMS KC. The Mcleod's are to expensive and the over all opinion on the Spec seems to be it sucks. I had a FMS HD on my 95 with 285rwhp and it was great. I have been doing searches and research all day and I might go CF?

I know you guys don't like clutch threads, at least I am asking a specific question and not "what is the best clutch?"!!!!!

Initially I will do all the bolt ons except cams, then I have to decide when I can get a vortech and that will help decide on cams. I have two friends with Mach 1's and they are putting down @287/312 for numbers. When I had my 95 they called it a V6 untill I got my HCI. Now I am back in the same boat and need to get back up to @ 270-290 rwhp. Most people seem to be saying that all the bolt ons should put a 2000 GT at about 270-280rwhp and with cams @ 310-320rwhp. The mods will come, I just have to make good quality decisions.

i dont see the 2V making over 300rwhp with stock longblock (+cams & intake)

with high comp pistons and some port work yea but ... ehh...

dont get me wrong the 2V can scream but it takes some work. also not as easy to work on as the 5.0

I think I'll just go back to my SN95 days and take paul's advise to go with a ProMotion "Kustom Clutch"

If you're going to stay mostly stock for a long time, then an OEM replacement or King Cobra will be fine. Otherwise, I must admit I really like my Centerforce DF clutch a lot. There's other good clutches out there, too. I've had bad experiences with two SPEC clutches.

i think im gonna go centerforce. this summer but im gonna need a strong one whatever way i go.

yea you will need stage 2 cams and all the boltons + l/t to get you aroung 300rwhp.

mine suffers from the blower cams n/a for now on numbers, but i knew i was gonna get a blower and didnt want to do cams again. but i also have ported heads to help those blower cams on the 290rwhp.

The Centerforce DFX clutch would be ideal for you then.
I have a Centerforce Dual friction clutch and throwout bearing I
haven't installed yet.One of my friends that has a 02 GT was nice enough
to let me drive his car with a Centerforce DFX clutch and it was the best
feeling clutch ever in my opnion.

Those are the opinions I was looking for, because on a SN95 everyone would say the DF was not good on a daily driver. It is to grabby.
Have any of you guys looked into ProMotion (promotionpowertrain.com). They do "Kustom Clutches". Using blueprinted FMS pressure plates with Mcleod discs, they make many clutch combos for all power levels. I heard there customer service is second to none.
