Challenger survey

Thats awsome "Would you not buy the Challenger if it was not avaiable with a 6-speed" I think its badass that they want everyones input.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. And if Dodge can really offer the Hemi for only $2,200 more than the V6 maybe it will make Ford rethink their pricing of the GT vs. V6.

The best part was that the 425HP w/ 6speed was only 3300 more! It'll probably change if they produce it, but wow.

I said I wouldn't buy it if they only offered an Automatic transmission...

im loving dodge, even if there not gonna use the survey its still smart to make the intrested buyers part of the process of building the car,

Seems like the main purpose of the survey is to find out if anyone will buy a Challenger if it only has an automatic. Note that the ask about auto trannie only in at least 2 places.

I do not belive that any other Chrysler / Dodge made of the 300C platform comes with a manual trannie. So it looks like they are trying to figure out if they need to to a manual trannie model.....duh

That's what I thought. Chrysler doesn't care about enthusiasts or loyalty. Only how to get in on the action.

Yep, sounds like they are trying to figure out if they can get away without offering a manual. And I don't think they have anything in the parts bin now that will work.

The euphoria of the Detroit show has passed and the guys on allpar who wet their pants over the Challenger now have to wash the stains out. That is. reality is setting in. The job at hand of putting a car like the Challenger into production, getting people to buy it and make a profit is setting in.

If you choose each option on the poll V6, 350 HP, 425 HP (with auto only button on the bottom) in all 3 cases the next screen asks if you'd still buy it if it only had an auto. So it's clear the engineers are trying to convince the bean counters that they need the $$ to develop the manual trannie model, it's not a done deal.

I'll stand by my initial comment on the Challenger. DCX may built it, but they will loose their shirt on it unless they can get people to pay >$40K for the Hemi version. They'll be lucky to sell 30,000 of them a year. It's a niche car that is big, heavy and impractical. Looking on the bright side, the Challenger & Camaro will keep Ford honest and force Ford to invest in upgrading the Mustang for 2009.
