3.73's with a t-5 are the perfect combo for the street. I cruise on the hwy at 80 and im still under 3000rpms. 3000rpms is around 85mph for me.

did you miss the part about him putting in a t5 soon? Unless you want serious traction issues, stay under 4.10 w/ the t5. If you plan to have 400+ hp, many would agree 3.55s are your best bet.

I didn't miss anything, I made my suggestions based on the fact he was going to a T-5, and traction is relative to suspension and tires any how.

3.73's, so you have something even remotely resembling top end performance. 4.10s are too steep imo for a stock 302 with a stock t5. 4.6 is better with the steeper gears.

Ive talked to a dozen people about this before . I wanted 3.73's but had a set of 3.55's available to me and from Chris at Crazy Horses mouth he said 3.55's are better for a street driven car and that unless I wanted to have to use overdrive in the traps I better not use 3.73's. I hear too many people on this forum knock
3.55's cause they have 3.73's or 4.10's and can spin their tires at 30 mph....GREAT FOR YOU!!!! I want to use the combination that works not the one that only seems better....Some of us have a use for 3.08's 3.55's 3.73's all the way to 5.14's......its all about the combination thats right for you...
