how do i change the air intake on my mustang???
i took the old one off and its the square type (car illiterate)
and i wanted to put on one of the cone kind
i thought i could just take out the box holding the old filter
and put on the cone but there are 2 tubes on the box that go
to a peice on the inside

any help would be great thanks

AS far as I know, no one makes a cold air intake for the 2.3L mustang. You can buy a universal kit at any auto parts store but there will be some fabrication to be done. I would suggest just removing the restrictive air silencer inside of the intake track and replacing your air filter with a K&N or other high flow replacement type filter.

I would recommend sticking with the stock type panel filter. Unless you are running forced induction, the stock setup is more than adequate, the stock filter will flow about double what the engine can.

Putting a cone filter converters your stock CAI into a junky hot air intake which robs performance and causes all sorts of problems. Don't convert to a cone filter unless you are willing and able to build a proper enclosure.

Also steer clear of the K&N filters, I know some will argue this point, but what is the purpose of an air filter? And how well do K&N filters really work? The data that has been collected is not favorable to the oiled filter elements, and if they don't do what a filter is even there for, what is is worth? There are better, and might I point out, less expensive dry element filters that flow better than paper without the downsides or risks of the oiled cotton type.
