I have a 1967 Mustang with the a stock replacment alt. I have replaced the voltage regulator. I have had the battery tested. The problem I am having is the car will not charge at idle, anything over 1300 the car charges fine. The battery is in the trunk and I am running Fuel pump, Electric Fan, Two Step with my msd. I have tried all the stuff I could think of. Thanks in advance for all the help.

I would suggest getting a higher output alt. The stock unit only produces 45-55 amps which is just enough for the car, AC, and a basic radio. With all of that and an electric fuel pump, electric fan, an MSD, and not to mention any better radio you probably need closer to 100 amps.

I had the same problems so I got a bigger and bigger one, then I calculated that my stereo needed most of the amperage I was producing. After that I went with a 200 amp powermaster, with no problems since then. :D

Sounds good, I figured I was headed that way. When you went to a 100 amp did you convert to a 1 wire setup? I have heard of this and remeber a little write up on how to do it but I can't find it. If you found a 100 amp for a 67 with external voltage reg. who made it? Thanks!!!

I agree. Running an electric fuel pump and msd is probably a little much for stock alt. If you are also running reduction pullys this will also add to the problem. I'd go to 100 amp minimum.
