1992 2.3L stang. The car starts and seems to run fine, randomly the ammeter shows a voltage drop and the lights dim, if I rev it sometimes the ammeter will return to show a charge and stay there for a few moments but will eventually drop down to show a discharge then might cycle back and forth between charging and discharging. Something is placing a load on the system, Voltage is at 14.6 then drops to 12.4 then back to 14.6. Here is what I changed to try and remedy the problem but it only seemed to make the discharging occur more frequently: brand new battery, new custom 1 wire 130 amp alternator. What could be causing this intermittent load? Fuel pump? Stuck starter solenoid? It does this with the lights either on or off and fuses removed for the airbag and airconditioning.
