My cars seems to be having some issues with charging lately.the voltmeter in the dash only reads like 12-13 volts when idling and today for the first time I had to get a jump.I thought that the low voltage at idle was attributable to the u/d pullies but now im thinking that my battery is shot also. With the pullies im only using the crank and the water pump.I was idling a long time today while I was charging my A/C and I think that put it over the edge to where the batt was really ran down.Im thinkin of trying some stock pullies however I didnt get em with the car just the U/Ds but I swapped out the alt lately and that alternator had a smaller pulley on it, but it didnt really make any difference.

Parts stores can test the system for you. Or provide more precise info. Does the voltage reading (not read with the stock gauge BTW) go up if you raise the idle to 1K RPM+?

A 2G with the HVAC blower on setting 2 or 3 can really bog down the charging system at idle. Add lights to that and all bets are off.

Or with workin on the car, you simply discharged the battery and havent had the opportunity to charge it back up.

Good luck.
