cheap 13 sec car

I was wondering if it would be cheaper to build my current 289 (completely stock) or build a 351W to hit the 13s. The car is a 65 coupe daily driver with a T-5 and will have gears from 3.5-3.7. What would be the best combination for parts? All your help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

its personal preference, if it were me id do a 289-331 stroker. But a 351 is prolly cheaper to do.

If you look at my sig, my car is just strating to break the 13's, but i have a serious traction problems, spinning through the 60 foot mark is not a good thing lol its not building the engine to get power, but getting that power to the ground. I built the 289, there was just something about keeping the original block that i wanted to do. But the car runs strong. Good luck.

Check out www.fordmuscle.com and their 67 coupe project with a 331 stroker and 4 speed. It broke into the 11's and now they're tinkering with a used supercharger.

I have 475 flywheel horse power. My car is set up for road racing. Add the road race suspension to my 16 x 8 in street tires and I get a 14.2. (4700 feet on a slippery track). On a highway I can KILL some really good cars. The 1/4 is a different story, for now.

I am really not getting my power to the ground. I didn't expect to, though. With slicks, I can drive much more agressively. I didn't even power shift, much less dump the clutch.

It really is about getting power to the ground. I have the power for high 10s at sea level. Do I ever expect to run high 10s with my set up? Not really, but it is not a drag car.

Go with a 351 stroker if you do drags. That will be cheaper than a 331 stroker. If you hook, the extra torque will help you.
