Cheap but good Shocks/Struts

Hey, I need to replace my shocks and struts. I know a lot of you guys on here use the blue tokicos, but those seem a little expensive. Any others that you like? KYB? I cant think of any others, but I just want something that will be better than gabriels and still keep some good stiffness and stability.

How about Mach 1 (Tokico) shocks n struts, I used those when I lowered my GT...

Yes, the Tokico's off the Mach are good. But yes, FORD PART NETWORK has a deal on them but check out www.gefracing.com a buddy of mine stopped in picked up the shocks for only 29 bucks each with taxes!

Do I have to lower my car though? Stupid question, but I have to ask. And those will fit with no modification on a 94 V6?

No you do not have to lower your car, and yes they will fit no problem. The 94+ use the same frame and they will be a direct bolt in.

the mach 1 struts/shocks are designed for a lightly lower car but only like 3/4 of an inch... they will work perfectly fine on your stock ride height car. you should definatly consider getting some ford C springs for 100 bucks and drop the car 1.2 inches all around while you are at it. its a major change and the handeling with the shocks will be a ton better.

the shocks/struts should run you 200 bucks.

I've been looking around for these shocks/struts and cant find anywhere where they are gonna be 200 for a complete set up. The link above adds up to about 260, but if you know of a better place, please let me know. Oh, and where can I find these C Springs, Ive never heard of them before.

www.fordpartsnetwork.com have them for I belive 179 for the set. Plus shipping should not be that much.

C springs are for the 79+ Mustangs adn can be found at any Ford Dealer. They are not as rough or slammed as an aftermarket.

OK, I'm for sure gonna get the Mach 1 shocks/struts. But heres my concern about the lowering springs: I live in Minnesota and drive the car for some of the winter season. will lowering the car with the C springs be bad for driving in the snow?

I apologize in advance for taking over this thread but it seems pertinent.

Please forgive me for sounding naive but are you saying that the FMS C Springs CAN be used with the Mach 1 strut/shock combo? Tru_Blue_104 had stated earlier that these were made for "lightly lowered cars but only like 3/4" With this in mind will these springs work well with these struts/shocks or will the struts shocks fail prematurely due to the increased drop? Thank you for any responses, I just want to make sure that I have all the correct information before I drop 300-400 dollars on a spring/strut/shock combo that I may 1) have to replace early or 2) may not like. For anyone that has this combo the Mach 1 strut/shock and FMS C Springs. Do you like the ride? Is it comfortable or "sporty" (read- feel every bump and "BANG" when I go over large potholes)? Thanks in advance to one and all for your help.

The only thing that I can see that would be problematic for snow would be clearance issues. You know height of "packed snow". If you have good snow tires and adequate clearance for snow conditions I don't see why lowering your car would be problematic. With that being said I've only been through 3 winters out here in Washington so I may not be the best person to talk to you about driving in the snow. Good Luck.

they will work fine with the fms c springs, the drop is very minimal i am riding on the stock struts and shocks going on 3 years with out an issue yet so you wont have to worry about a super fast wearing out of the struts/shocks.
