Hey guys. I bought a set of FRPP hood pins when I got my Cervini's CorbaR hood. The pins have only been on for a month and they're already rotting out. What can I do? I know paint will just chip off, and I'm pretty pissed. Thanks!

Sure it's not flash rust? Try wiping them off with a rim polish or just soap and water/

Naval Jelly. Stuff works great. removes rust and then protects the metal from it.

"Naval jelly"? Sounds disgusting. That isn't like "toe jam", "butt cheese" or "ear wax" is it? Assuming not, where does one get it?

heh. it's probably marine sealant or something. The damned things are supposed to be stainless, so maybe it's a little rust on an exposed area.

parts stores should even sell it. it works decently on cleaning up motors and such. it has been around forever, so i would guess there are better, newer products out there. and dont eat it, big J.

Astronut, can you clean them up and hit them with a quality clear coat? i dont have pins, so i dont know what the interferance issues are (would clear chip off)....powderercoat them?

good luck.

well, sliding them into the pin holders could chip the clear off, as well as road grit.

When I first got mine I polished them with Turtle wax chrome polish, it shined them up real nicely and have yet to see any rust.

Mr gasket sells some that look almost like my FRPP pins. I put them on my GF's 87 GT because we sell them at my work, but they are rusted and I wish I had got the Ford Racing pins for it as well.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
