Cheap tr-3650 shifter on ebay!!

Their is a short throw on ebay that I considered when buying my tri-ax looks like a good shifter with a nice thick forged handle claims to have a 35% throw reduction it has the stops(which we dont need but??) Pretty much everything my tri-ax has to offer. The thing is when I was looking this one was 110 and I picked up my tri-ax for 140 I figured since no big defecit to go with what I know. But now this guy is selling them for 35 bucks plus 8 for flat rate shipping!! This is a freaking steal anybody looking to get a new shifter but dont want to spend the 200 on it I would recomend this. Ebay part # is 220532467655 :nice:

ok i got the shifter today, and i tell yah for $43 dollars shipped it not to shabby.seems like a good piece of casting they used to make it. funny thing is is that mine also came with the shifter on backwards so i just turned it around and now i should be good to go, even though i did not get directions with the install for it. is there anything i need know about the install on the shifter. but i tell you it seems like a good deal for the money that i spent on it. i willkeep u posted after i get it on and drive with it and slamming gears.

Yea, mine was assembled backwards as well but after 5 minutes reversing the parts, it went in with no hassles whatsoever. Great piece for the money.

same here took off the top 4 screws and took out the handle and put it all back the same way. i did look up that part number on the box it came in at summit and it was listed for 139.00 part #700008 so what a deal. also quick question. i noticed on the stock shifter the plate holes are spread apart more than the new shifter, so does that mean there are holes under the stock plate to bolt the new shifter too? little info would help or so online instructions.

To be honest, I really don't know what holes you are talking about. If you have a pic, post it up that would help a lot.

i got it off just now in the pouring rain. i was talking about the boot cover plate, but now that is off and i see where the old shifter plate is. just got the old shifter off and pulled off the plastic piece at the end of the shaft. now i have to go to advance auto to pick up rtv silicone. what kind of silicone do i use?

FIRST OFF LET ME THANK YOU GUYS FOR STARTING THIS THREAD ABOUT THE SHIFTER. :hail2: JUST GOT DONE WITH INSTALL AND MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE. :D IT WAS WELL WORTH THE MONEY AND ALSO HAVING CHANGE TO SPARE, BECAUSE THIS SHIFTER IS THE ****ZALLS. :nice:

I would use Black RTV Silicon. That's what I've always used on shifters, and it seals well and keeps things quiet.

stp does your shifter make a little bit of noise at higher speeds? is this normal for short throw shifters

How high of a speed are we talking about? If I've traveling at a high speed the last think I notice is my shifter making any noise...just me though. I have never noticed any noise come from the shifter at any speed to be honest though. It is the quietest shifter I've had between the itself, the Tri-Ax, and the MGW.

not a noise just a little rattle. maybe its just me because when i do something myself iam always aware on whats going on. let me see tommorow when i go to work and test it a little longer. also will it get broken in a little better as far as not being so tight.

Yea, it was tight as hell and difficult to get into gear when I first got it. Now it's smooth as butta!

S.T.P man iam silly always doing things in a rush. the noise i heard was the shift knob that was a little loose and thats what the noise was. man the more i drive the car i still cant get over the fact that the shifter was 43 dollars shipped to my house what a steal, it feels so tight and shift sweet. but maybe you can answer this for me why did they give extra washers for the shifter, because i read the profile on it at summit and it said that you can position it different ways do you know what the mean . but anyway thanks for the replys it helps alot when you are not to sure about something.....

nevermind that question.. i thought about it and figured either my stock shifter was warn out (100,000 miles) or i need to rebuild the tranny.. so i went ahead and ordered one of those shifters :) The guy is only an hour and half away from me. thought about picking it up but the $8 for shipping is way cheaper then gas!

just to make sure.. it says this shifter will work on a 2001 mustang GT with a 4.6L... 2001 Gt's came with the same tranny through out that production year correct? or did the earlier 2001's have a different tranny? i've heard both.

2006 look at the drivers side door jam where the tag is and see if the letter k is stamped on it. if so then you have a 3650 and it will also tell you the month the car was made. if it does not have a k then go to mgw website and it will list the make of the tranny by a letter .thjats how i knew i had a 3650. and yes go and get that shifter :nice: it is the bomb!!!!!
