Check engine and acceleration problems!!!

I've bin having a problem with my car for a while which im most certain im close to fixing. ok well sometimes my car makes a rattling noise and sometimes it doesnt respond the way it should. I recently got my cats replaced, egr, maf sensor, smog pump to try to fix these problems but still not at 100%. Some times it responds good but sometimes it doesnt which gets anoying sometimes. I dont understand why i continue to have these problems if i put in all those new parts. I got it scanned and the only code it gets is egr valve but ive already replaced it so i dont know what i could be. Hope you guys can help me out so i can stop throwing away money and maybe i can save up some money for upgrades and some new paint LOL . Hopefully the pony will be up and running like new with all your help :nice:

Rattling sound? Hmm, how about a timing issue? You make no mention of the basics like a tune-up?? Plugs, distributor cap, rotor, ignition wires and setting the timing. I would be inclined to start here before doing anything else. I am also assuming that you are referring to a '94-'95.

Did you reset the KAM after installing any of those parts? And just for future reference, you should diagnose the problem and replace the related part or else youll end up spending a fortune. Unless you have a lot of money, in which case we should hang out because I could use a few new parts myself...

KAM - Keep Alive Memmory - where the computer keeps calibration adjustments, such as fuel delivery calculations and idle speed specs, to compensate for aging of vehicle and components.

disconnect battery for min. of 15 minutes

Well i have done the the tune up but not the timing. I did reset the Kam also, i always disconnect the batterie anyways when connecting a part like the the maf sensor. And when i took it to the shop to get the codes checked it just comes out egr valve. And i forgot to mention its a 94 gt with the 5.0 engine.

Check the timing and/or try better gas....

I disabled my EGR so my car runs a TON of advance on the timing.. i get the pinging if I run 87 octane.. I am good with 94 octane... One of these days I'll geta round to getting a tuner and taking the EGR out completely...

what was the number of the code?? (i can think of 5 off hand for the EGR system) we can't do a thing with diagnostics for that without knowing the number and if it is KOEO, KOER or continuous.

you can check/pull the codes yourself. look for jrichkner's (may have spelt name wrong) post on it.
