Hey,

My check engine light came on 2 days ago and i had no idea why. But Yesterday while i was driving on the expressway i noticed that while trying to floor it past a few slow drivers my car (an automatic) would drop in RPMs right before it would shift into the next gear. Not a lot, only like 2-300 RPMs but it still dropped. It would then climb back up and shift. Is this a transmission problem or a computer problem. I did this two or three times while driving yesterday to make sure it wasn't a fluke and it happened each time. I have to take the car to my mechanic for final diagnostics but i am trying to figure which way this is gonna go. Any ideas?

thanks

The check engine light may be coming on due to a transmission problem. My check engine light would go on and off in my old 95 GT auto. Turns out the lock up function in the torque converter was broken. I did not have it replaced because of the cost, so I had a chip burned at a local performance shop that shut off the lock up function. My check engine light went off when he did that. He also informed me that if I replaced the converter, the light would have gone off, but the chip was cheaper. That was my story....
