Got sick of everything looking nice but the calipers. I was gonna get the anniversary calipers, but 500 bucks. Nothing was wrong with mine, so I decided to powder coat them. 50 bucks, better than 500 for all 4. Rear ones are not done yet, they cost another 40.

I actually have a new friend who does this stuff. For all four Calipers and two colors it should cost about 170 bucks he said. Still better than 500. I did him a favor, he did me a favor. I am really happy with how they turned out. I had to order the rebuild kits, they were like 20 bucks. Just new rubber seals is all. This is really easy for any skill level. Just have to be able to give your calipers for a week. Bleeing the brakes is the hardest part.

I will put them on tomarrow, bleed the brakes, and get some pics this weekend in the PICS OF YOUR CAR thread. I was told to wash them with WD-40. Won't harm the coating. It seems pretty durable. Very pleased..LT

I assume you took the calipers apart before you powdercoated them... how did you do it?

I want to buy one of those home powder coating kits where you bake the chit in your oven (prefferably one you don't cook with ). I figure it would be a good winter project.

I have the eastwood hot coat kit and do all my own stuff. Its not hard, just VERY time consuming.

Cool I couldn't remember who made those also do you have to sand/bead blast the parts before you coat them?

Yes, I took them apart. That is why I bought the rebuild kits. They were easy. I used a 2x4 where the pads go, the just used an air compressor in the brake line input to push out the pistons. They come out with a loud pop, the wood prevents damage. Then just take out the pistons, and pull the rubber seal, and the dust shield. Get some high temp tape, cover the opening you don't want sand blasted or powder coater, and go to town.

Just make sure when you reassemble them you are carefull....

The above is a really good site for caliper rebuild instructions. Its for a camaro, but you get the point. As I said, I am really impresed.

For the Cobra letters on the calipers, I carfully scuffed up the letters, and got some HIGH TEMP Duplicolor, and a small paint brush to paint the letters by hand. Very easy. Very nice.

I didn't find anyone that stocks um. I had to order them from Autozone. Took about 4 days to get them. Cost less than 20 I think. Really easy to rebuild as I said before.

I will post pics soon of how they look on the car. I really like them........

They are FMS Rotors. I had them powder coated also. I did not however powder coat the cooling channels. I heard that was bad to do. Not really sure. Seems to hold up really well. I am very happy with the outcome....

So did you just get the hub area of the rotors powdercoated? The setup looks great. I know how ya feel and why you wanted to do it... When I went to look at my car to buy it, within 5 minutes of lookin at it I was like damn, if I get this car one of the first things on the to-do list is some paint to clean up those calipers
