I am not trying to stir the pot, insult anybody, or hurt anyones feelings. I am just voicing my personal opinion on the subject matter. It is tough, for the average guy, to sift through and understand a lot of the technical info shared on here. Too many abbreviations, too many overlytechnical terms. It gets confusing for the rest of us dummies. Just pointing it out, that's all.

I think I might have stirred the pot. I don't know how I found this thread from July. Thought it was goin' on now. OOOOPS. Did that this morning- must not have had enough coffee before jumping on stangnet. I don't think it was ever really settled though so I guess it's allright.

I SAY PURE BS!!

Hmm, read my TPS page? You're taking about the "Level C" TPS that is NOT used on the stangs or newer cars.

Feel free to prove me wrong!

If you bothered to READ:
http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/Mustang-TPS-FAQ.html
Ford did have an older style TPS (Level C) that was used mostly with the POS EEC-III's computers. Those "Level C" TPS units had to be adjusted. ... When Ford switched to the EEC-IV's they still left the old TB's on some models for a while until the next update of the engine components. Also, until ~1989, Ford had problems making the D/RD TPS units with a proper seal from water. So, they kept using the Level C units until they where sure they could make the new TPS units reliable and also update the all of the needed TB's.

Well, I found the document again - Ford Idle Setting Procedure.
I hope you notice the date in the bottom-left corner. Jan 30, 2002. So this shouldn't be talking about your "older style TPS (Level C)."

As promised:

I love it !!!
This thread just will not die

:SNSign:

Jim Bowy -
Awesome job coming up with the original Ford document
However, the first thing that grabbed me was the date, and that this page appears to have been faxed.
It looks like the date is when the document was sent via fax, not really a publication date from Ford.

Can you confirm this?

I hate to be a skeptic, but I am sure others will be asking the same question.

By the way I am going to be saving that image for personal reference. Thanks again for taking the time to post it.

Point taken, I can't authenticate the date the document was actually written. However, you'll notice they even suggest notching the TPS to get the unit back into the 0.96 to 0.99 range.
