Any one running a cheap GM 1 wire alternator in their fox? With my recent upgrade to an electric fan the stock alternator isnt up to the task and I dont want to drop 200 bucks on a 3G alternator if possible.

So what donor cars can provide a chevy 1 wire alternator that will bolt up with minimal fabrication/modification?

Why not get a 3G out of a Ford at the junkyard? It'd cost you about the same amount of money probably.

It's taking a chance, but that's what I did. 20 bucks and a wire brush, and it looks brand new.

True Steve.

I wasn't very clear. My point was that if he wants to get a junkyard or a parts-store alternator for a Chevy, why not get one for a Ford instead. The cost for each version would probably be about the same.

Some people think that 3G's only come from the aftermarket.

Went to a local scrap yard and bought 2 3g alts for 10 cents a pound.... both work perfect.
