SMOKEDYA said:So what kinda power gains has everyone seen with the SCT brand chip on foxes, and with what mods. peace

SMOKEDYA said:So then why do they claim 10-15 and up for installing a chip? Charged did you do yours cause of the s/c? If i run the bottle i can also get a box to do the same thing then? To where with the chip it will take care of it for me with turning the switch. I've always woundered this, so why do they say also if ya got a chip then they can reprogram it to pass emisions? For a n/a car by adjusting the a/f and the timing is the same thing the chip is doing for you? BTW how much is a SCT chip anyways? Do they ever go bad? peace

. It completely varies car to car and mod to mod. On a stock setup, your gains are virtually none. The more modded you are, the more you need a chip. I was just going to say something about that....gospeedgo said:Oh yeah, BTW Im back.

Well i'll be keeping the stock FMU cause i wont be going s/c anytime soon, and like i said before i will just do the timming when i wanna hit it. Just as i thought the chip isnt doing me any good and i think i need some new........ peacecharged9250 said:I was running the blower with a FMU for a while. I wanted to delete the FMU (cause they suck!) so i went with #42 injectors (I was running #30's) and burned a chip. You need to run a chip when you delete the FMU other wise you really have nothing to tune with.

which "stock" fmu are you speaking of? I didnt read the whole thread again, but do you have an FMU with no power adder besides nitrous???SMOKEDYA said:Well i'll be keeping the stock FMU cause i wont be going s/c anytime soon, and like i said before i will just do the timming when i wanna hit it. saleenster said:"Fuel management unit" If your car has this, its not stock, you or somebody has added it, and I would be curious why?

SMOKEDYA said:Ok here it is! My car has the stock computer witch obviously i'm confussing with this FMU thing! My car has a SCT chip that has been dyno tuned. I have every single bolt on you can imagine or get, and even the NOS waiting for install i have flowed ported/polished GT40P heads that cant get any better (they were flow tested) i have a cam cant remember the #'s i have the ported polished hounded or whatever you call it cobra upper and lower. The reason i posted this about the chip thing is cause the car made more power without the chip then with it? It was dyno at the same place on the same dyno but diffrent days and diffrent times of the year, i know they say weather has a role in the way the car performs but that much? This is why i'm asking this big ole mess of a question on the chip. The car did make more power the day it was dyno when the base run was done then after the tune with the chip it did make a little more. But the most it has ever made with just a fuel pressure and timing adjustment was made was like 305HP? and 330TQ? and now after the tune and chip it's at 297HP 328TQ. I just feel that for $350 it wasent worth it and can make more without it? So thats why i asked if all the chip really does is adjust the timing and fuel pressure on a n/a car or what exactly the chip does. peace

Thanks and as far as the loading and so forth with the dyno i'm not sure? I can tell you it was on tourqe freaks dyno both with the chip and without and also by the previous owner. LOL thats what i ment to say or spell was extrude honingloud 95 said:The process used on your cobra upper and lower was likely called Extrude Honing. It is a company/service that essentially blasts fine particles of sand/glass through a given casting(cylinder head, manifold, etc.) to remove material, as well as provide a smoother surface for air to travel over. The particles leave a slightly bumpy microsurface on the casting, so as to provide better air velocity. If this was not done on your manifold, then it was likely "hogged out" by somebody who had a grinder and a lot of time.
As for your dyno numbers, I am curious as to what your air fuel ratios were for both dyno sessions. Likewise, I would like to know how the dyno operator loaded the car. Both sessions should have used the same technique and values. The numbers you made with that engine combo are right where you should be.![]()
yes i do know what it means just couldnt spell it damn guess i shoulda stayed in or went to school more often. I contacted SCT themself and he said it could of been riched up a little more for driveability? Anyways we'll see how tomorow night goes hoping to be right with if not better then the previous 12.2's
