They are not called spinners, just Knock offs.

Named because you knock them off with a special soft hammer !

Those are fake knock-off's, though. Can't tell if they actually come off or not (I suspect that they do), but they don't hold the wheel on the car as does a true knock-off. It's cosmetic only.

Yep, the term "knock-off" only applies when the spinner is a heavy cast metal piece, threaded, and is the only thing holding the wheel to the hub (hence the term "knock-off wheels" because you can remove the wheel simply by spinning off the center, using a rubber hammer to get it loose. Corvettes had such wheels, and they are derived from racing applications). An ornamental center ornament like the one on the '05 V6 Mustang would be referred to as a "spinner", not a "knock-off". Early Mustangs (65-66) could be ordered with spinners mounted to deluxe wire caps, or even the standard caps. It was a 3-pronged spinner, similar to what we're talking about here, and they were called "spinners" back then as well. Spinners on Mustangs go way back to the beginning heritage-wise.

For the sake of clarity :
The type of wheels are called Knock Off Wheels or Rims. On real Knock Off rims the part the gets knocked off (and the part we are refering to ) are called spinners.
The reason ford is coming out with this is that 64 1/2 to 66 Mustangs were available with a Hubcap the were close in style to the rim pictured. As a further option these caps could be order with simulated spinners.

Those wheels look sweet IMO, they look alot like the wheels on Eleanor from the Gone in 60 remake.
