First off, im FINALLY getting a GT, im really really excited since all I have now is the base V6 with NO features. Ive been looking at a couple, there is this one ad for a 2002 Sonic Blue GT (not sure if ive seen sonic blue in person or not, hope it looks cool) and the guy upgraded to 17 inch chrome cobra wheels (it is also lowered). This one is about $200 or $300 more than the others I am considering but this one does come with the chrome wheels aswell as the original bullitt wheels, so if I get this one I could sell one set of wheels and and that would more than make up for the slightly higher price. My ? though, if I do get it which set of wheels should I sell? The Chrome ones are awesome obviously but I hear that chrome wheels require ALOT of maintenance plus I could get more for them so im leaning towards keeping the stock bullitts... your thoughts?

First off, are they 2003 Cobra rims or 95 Cobra rims? I would keep the stock bullits if they're the 95 Cobras. If they're 03 Cobra's, sale the stock bullits and 2 of the 03's and get yourself some 17x10.5's with 315 Nitto DR's for the rear.........

Ditto that, but one suggestion...............try to find a silver car. They're much faster than sonic blue! jk

I second that second. BTW sonic blue is a very cool color. I didn't really like it at first, why did I buy a color if I didn't like it? I'm married! I really do like the color now, very cool, lots of compliments. I'm really glad I didn't get the silver one now. Anything is high maintanence if you want to keep it looking good. If you didn't like either set, then you could just trade both sets in on one that you did like.

What he said. If snow is not a factor, then the chrome will be easy to maintain. I think you are confusing the polished finish with chrome plated finish. I've had both, and will never do polished again. Chrome are just as easy to clean as the car itself

Here's my new chrome bullit's: http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/com.hp.HPGuestLogin?username=gsxr1_pilot164&password=84211293

I live in San Antonio, TX... never seen snow in my life lol. Maybe I was confusing them with the polished ones, if the chrome ones are just as easy to take care of as the bullitts or any other rims then I'll definately keep the chrome, i was just afraid of any really high maintenance.

The biggest thing to look at on the chrome wheels is the clearcoating. If the chrome rims are clearcoated, check for peeling, cracks, or pitting. I had a set of chrome wheels on a Dakota R/T. I hit a curb and it nicked the clear coat. The clear coat began to peel and flake off. Also, do NOT use simple green or any other harsh cleaner on the chrome wheels. It will degrade the clearcoat or eventually cause pitting if left on too long. Soap and water is best

My GT came with 17" chromies (01' cobra) as an option, I think they look great and the maintenance is not bad you just have to make sure you dry them really well after you wash the car. There are a lot a bullit wheels out there, so keep the chrome ones.
