I heard through the grapevine that a company here in FL, not Steeda, or UPR is making aElenor body kit for the 05? I just heard this tonight.

Does anybody know anything about this?

Company is called BBR or something like that.

what is the fascination with the eleanor? i just don't get it. in the last meeting of the mustang club i belong to the "big" item of the raffle was a framed poster of an eleanor. the guy next to me started muttering how it wasn't even a super snake. the rest of the room was gushing over the car. what i found surprising is that at 46 i am one of the younger members. if the room was populated with younger members i would expect that, but not from a bunch of retired guys. in the end the "eleanor" is nothing more than a body kit loosely based on a '67 shelby. if the eleanor was at least an original idea i could maybe see the fascination, but it's not original and not attractive. it was change for changes sake.

How many foglamps will it hold? That's the important question. What exactly is the definition of an "Eleanor" kit anyway? Couldn't you just call any body kit an "eleanor" because it's on a Silver/black striped Mustang?

Look, it's "Eleanor"!!

Eleanor

I just want to add my 2 cents. As far as people not liking the Eleanor car, I believe it is personal opinion. If you don't like it, then don't buy one. For others who do like it, spend the money and buy it or make one. Who cares what anyone else thinks. I want to repeat that again for all to read again, WHO CARES WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS! I know this is stating the obvious, but I feel that the obvious has been overlooked. The Mustang enthusiasts and "purists" should actually appreciate Eleanor and what it is doing for the Mustang. Not only is it getting a younger generation interested in cars, but it is also making certain mustangs more valuble, which I think is a good thing. I firmly believe that anyone who gets angry about Eleanor, has a different Mustang that is not as valuble and has only been overlooked by people because of the popularity of this new star. My thoughts are do not get angry about someone liking something new, even if it is a modified Mustang. This is no different that someone who makes a Shelby Clone, but for some reason, those are accepted. I find this very strange. I spoke with a guy who restores mustangs and he said he HATES the Eleanor cars, but in the next sentence said he has done Shelby clones. I think this is hypocracy in it's clearest form. I personally hate Mini's, but there seem to be a lot of people who love them, and more power to them. Sorry for the long post, but I am sick of seeing posts like this that are very one sided. Freedom of choice is what we are all about here. Instead of being negative, try to be supportive of someone else's interest. Just my thoughts.

ok...calm down a little, i personally like eleanor, the point is...its not that rare anymore...every one with a fastback (and a decant wallet) is making a clone of eleanor when it came out in that movie i loved it but with all of the fastbacks turning into them its getting kinda old, im not trying to insault anyone but i kinda like the mini, but now i see them every day its getting old, no one can do stuff themselves. one person gets or makes a cool car and them every one else dose it...thats why i like the classic muscle cars...theres not many around, ive seen ONE! other 73 sence ive bought mine in october of last year. granted i havent seen an eleanor around this busted town (maby becuse i know no one around here can aford one)but i know there out there, every ones trying to get there hands on one. thats the main prob some of us have with it, too many are being created.

What is wrong with you people??????????????????? DO NOT send Eleanor questions over to the 05 forum. THAT'S MY FORUM!!!

As for the body kit being classic: DIDN'T THE MOVIE COME OUT IN 2000? I have socks more classic than that. The original Eleanor had a classic body. Let's make 71 style body kits for 65-69 and 05 Mustangs.

I dont think its so much that eleanor looks bad or anything, its a great car. Its that it is one of the most talked about mustang out there and everyone is making or wanting to make one. When a lot of bad half assed ones are built and only a handful of decent ones are built they lose their uniqueness and people that dont know about cars still think they are better than an original or restored mustang

But to the point, if that wasnt a movie car and you saw it at a show, most of you would be impressed with the work and craftsmanship

It still makes me sick when people tell me that their favorite car is eleanor or a 67 gt500 just because of a damn movie

The car itself is fine, I am just sick of hearing about it. The fact that Unique Performance is taking used FB shells, rebuilding them into badass cars, and then paying Shelby to assign a "Shelby" VIN number to an otherwise no worth shell and then selling them for 150K or more ($582,000 is the most I have heard yet) just makes me sick. The cars themselves without Shelby's blessing would make a handsome profit at 100K or less. But people are going nucking futs just because it is an imitation of an imitation wannabe "Shelby".

Wait aq second Guys, Bishop does have a point here, I mean, do any of you really care what he thinks? :rlaugh:

Just kidding with ya, but try and look at it this way. A Shelby clone is an homage to a REAL car, A car that made history, a car that showed the world that the Mustang was not just a secretaries car, it was a car that could be a muscle car as well. An Eleahor clone is a copy of MOVIE FANTASY, not real life at all. Forget it's a move for a second, let's pretend it's real life and you pay some guy a ton of money for you to steal him a REAL Shelby, he not only comes back with a kit car, but a kit car that is an innacurate clone no less, would you pay him for it? Furthermore, the Eleanor was designed orignally to be a ONE OF custom car, not a mass produced one of thousands car. The worst part is as mentioned that it gets a real Shelby ID no less, that is a slap in the face to any dedicated hobbiest. You don't see people cloning real Shelbies, give theming real ID's and charging real prices do you? How can anyone look at the facts and not see it as two totally different things is beyond me. The Mustang is about the every joe enthusiast, not about fat cats with thick wallets. I can almost guarantee you that if every Eleahor copy out there was made in someones garage or driveway with home crafted fiberglass parts and not mass produced bolt ons then even if every single 67' Musatang fastback owner did it to their car it would not be half as much of an issue that it is. The only folks that are gaga over a 5 year old 2 star B movie picture are the ones that know almost jack about the hobby, plain and simple. You know, the people who also suddenly buy a magazuine off the rack because it's on the frickin cover every other month, not the subscribers who are the blood of the hobby and have to grin and bare it.

This is a subject that is way beyond opinion which yes everyone is entitled to, it is about right vs. wrong and using up hard to find classic cars to make mass produced customs is wrong, there is nothing to debate about it. My God, I don't even want to think of a world where someone takes all of Chip Foose's custom cars and starts mass producing them until everyone has one.

The "younger" generation this car attracts we don't really want in the hobby, so don't kid yourself that they are doing anyone any favors. The Mustang has survived just fine all along without it.
