Clean power to underdash wiring...

I want to place a couple of relays under the dash, along with a new modern fuse block. What relays should I use (amps)? I have about 5 extra with connectors from fuel pump to electric fan. I want to clean up the CRAZY wiring that I am sure was a loom at one point in the car's life. Suggestions?

for relays, just pick up some cheap ones.. Bosch is usually cheap but look around online. Local places are usually more expensive. My buddy was a car audio and video/alarm installer and there is HUGE price difference. Radioshack had some for like $3 each and my buddy told me he can get them for $.50 each or something like that. Just look around online.

Now, the modern fuseblock idea is gonna be hard. I personally would go in with a universal harness and replace ALL the old worn out wiring and just loom it nice and neat when you do it.

What I want to do is to untangle the wiring, replacing as needed (the wiring is actually in great shape overall). There are a few things to address, like why the hell there are three flasher relays in the car, and where do wires go which PO's used for stereos or whatever.

I also want to provide a separate power source for the stereo and amps, on relays. Looking at the price for a new underdash is far out of my range right now. I have pulled hundreds of feet of wire loom and relays from a few Fords at the pick and pull, so the wire (color/stripe and gauge) is not a problem.

Look thru the stuff this guy offers, I purchased his distribution termnal. I am adding two of these to my car, one will be used to reduce the mess of wires at the starter solenoid, the other under the dash to provide an easy point to connect to for power.

This a great resource! Perfect. Went through most of the related articles and I also ordered the book on Understanding Electrical wiring.

Here are the items to go on relays: Electric fan, fuel pump, EEC, stereo/amp, Fog lights, and power top. I can then use a modern fuse block, I mean take a look at our fuse block now- 6 fuses for everything, and I want to remove some of the fusable links if I can. It is just a matter of my time to do it.

I satrted putting relays under my dash after years of a mess, for the low current draw stuff like stereo,EQ,DVD,monitors i used a 30 amp relay into a distribution block that has 1- 8 GA in and 4 outs so the one relay runs all that instead of 1 factory 14 GA wire spupplying power to them, then used a relay for each fan(2),fuel pump, solenoids etc.

Thats what I was looking for. I think all of my relays are 30 and 45's. I actually got the relays from the 91 GT that I got the engine and harness from. I have already started laying out my wire runs in the basement. It's been way to cold out in the garage.
