Is it possible to remove the seatcovers and wash them using a washing machine? I wish to then color them with some rit dye. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks for your input.

It can be done but be aware that the dye may leak/bleed onto your seats. I'm not saying it will but a possiblity with moisture (sweat).

I have no idea about spraying dye.

To clean, I pull them out of the car, scrub with "Tuff Stuff" or some other upholstery/carpet cleaner, then use a power washer. The one I have is 2300 PSI. As long as your material is in good shape it will not damage it. Or, you can use one of those sprayers at the car wash. Works much better than a shampooer with upholstery attachment.

Leave them out at least 24 hours to dry.

The coloring agent is specialy formulated to dye clothing, (aka tie-dye shirts.) I would think that a little sweat would not be a problem.

For covers still attached to the frame and foam this is an excelent method of cleaning, however I was trying to gain some insight on actualy washing the seatcoversONLY. And then using a clothing grade dye to recolor the covers.
