Cleaning the IAC valve...?

ok, this might sound like a dumb question, but can someone show me a pic of the IAC valve?

I have a 2004 GT.

I have been having idle issues and having problems with it dying at stop lights...

So I bought some throttle bosy cleaner and I am going to try cleaning my IAC before buying a new one. I see what i think is the IAC valve but I dont want to mess anything up....

also any tips for cleaning the IAC or anything else while im in there?

wow, that was fast ! thanks a bunch...i was pretty sure that was it...but i wanted to be 100% positive before i start spraying throttle bosy cleaner every where!

If your current IAC is bad get a OEM Motorcraft replacement
IAC.Don't settle for a cheap off brand IAC.A IAC valve is one
part I would never go cheap on.

once again Pennywise, I disagree with you. You say the same thing every time someone asks about replacing their IAC, but let me ask you this: the Ford IAC crapping out is a major problem, so why do you recommend people pay dealership prices for something that is known to fail? If my Wells IAC that I picked up at autozone dies on me, I paid half the price of a Motorcraft one... And for that matter, the so-called "cheap off brand" has been serving me well for 2 years. Just some food for thought.

the IAC is not the issue, it's the fact that people do not change ther PCV valve when they should or if they do, they buy some $3.00 PCV valve from a parts store, this causes an excissive amount of vapors and gunk to build-up in the IAC, plenum and other places. so that's why a IAC fails, not because its a Ford product and as stated above, DO NOT BUY them from a parts store as wth any electronic engine/trans sensors for Fords. they DO NOT performe like the OEM stuff

You're right about the PCV valves from parts stores being garbage, the ones from autozone let a lot of oil back up into the plenum. I'm just saying that the IAC I got from AZ when I was short on cash has not failed me yet, so if you can't afford the OEM part, your car isn't going to explode if you get the Wells IAC. Well anyway, thanks for the clarification. I'll take my seat now

check it out. i bought some throttle body cleaner last week and i cleaned it out last night and it has stopped dying. its still a little rough. but it does not die anymore. i think this weekend i am going to take apart more of my intake and try to clean it out. maybe even get a recharger kit and recharge the K&N filter...
