cleaning the windshield

My windshield has little grains of sand imbeded in it throughout the years of it being on the road and I would like to get them out if possible. Anyone know if this can be done? I was thinking maybe the claybar would take it all out and make it look new again.

Haven't used any of the stuff personally, but I'd be willing to give it a try.
