Cleaning up The Rats Nest Under the HOOD!

Ok, I keep seeing everyone posting underhood pics here and in just about all of them you can barely see any wiring! I LOVE IT!! The question is, what is the easiest way of doing this? Can anyone throw me a bone on this one? I was thinking of starting to hide things in the fenderwells but I'd like some advice or direction hell even pics would be nice!

Help?

lol

:D

The basics are; disconnect the battery, jack up the car and support it,then take out your plastic outer fender liner, next mark every wire or connector and take plenty of pic if you can, unplug or disconnect the wires from there location or from another connector and then reroute the wires through the back of the Strut tower where there are 2 holes that you can push the wire and connectors through and then reconnect either the individual wires of the connectors under the fender well. The passenger side is the easier side to do, so I'd start there first..

This may help also

Hell I went a step further than that. If you don't have cruise control, or don'
t use it then punch out the grommet that has the vacuum lines inside of the fender, then push the main harness out of the firewall in the engine compartment and push it the best you can through the other hole. It is oblong though and you will have to fab up a grommet.

Then I rerouted all of the wiring that ran across the motor, drilled a hole in the transmission tunnel and routed the wires over the bellhousing. Can't really see them either.Check it out:

Thanks for the complement.

Time wise and I guessing here, Passenger side 3-4 hrs start to finish, Driver side with hood release, solenoid relocation and head lights harness 6-8 hrs start to finish.

When I did mine 4 yrs ago there was very little if any information or help in doing this and that's one of the reason for as many hours as it took me. My guess would now be about 2-3 hrs for the passenger side and 3-5 for the driver side start to finish.
If you're interested e-mail me and I'll be happy to sent you a write up I did 3+ yrs ago explaining what I did. As far as pics I've probably got 30-40 that might be helpful again if you’re interested.

I feel there's no reason to tie up space posting pics and such since the site is slow enough already.

Yeah I get jealous everytime I look at yours. I think my problem is the engine compartment painted black instead of the body color. One day I will change that but I dont want the car down for that long.

I already need to change the brake booster, m/c, linelock, prop valve, rear discs (much later), and the list goes on.....with the little bit of stick time I already get I can't see putting her away for a long period.

My wiring took about 12 hours total, but I did alot of rerouting too, including messing up the a/c wiring which I stil have to figure out so the compressor will kick on with the a/c control and not a seperate switch.

I agree I think the body color in the engine would show off more of your work.

It seems like the work never ends, even when you think your finished your not.
