yea, thats what i have. with no radio on, i can hear alot of noise coming from the shifter area. i installed the mgw myself, but i did it all right and followed directions. i also put in mobil 1 synthetic atf too. what is causing this and what can i do? also, its funny because when i shift into 5th gear, and 5th gear only, i hear this wierd noise sounding like its coming from my air vents, right above the heat and air knobs. sounds almost like the shifter gringing noise. dont know what it is, any of you have or hear this?

I'd assume pretty much any aftermarket shifter will make noise, because they don't have any of the sound/vibration dampening stuff on them. You could try using the thick mounting gasket. That sometimes gets rid of these kinds of problems. With the 5th gear noise, I would try putting something over the shifter whie you are driving, to see if the noise goes away. That would at least pinpoint the noise to the shifter. Good luck!

My MGW does make some "airy" sounds, you can notice a change in pitch when you have your hand on and off the shifter knob. The "normal" tranny noises such as a grind or clunk will be louder with the aftermarket shifter...especially since the MGW is metal on metal contact between the handle and the base, versus the stocker has the larger rubber bushing. Anyways, when I first put mine on I was concerned about the extra noise, but I've gotten used to it and think its just part of the new shifter.

Exactly.. just think about all the rubber you got rid of that was on the stock shifter that kept you from hearing all that noise. Using my Tri-Ax for exmple.. it's all metal and connects directly to the transmission with some silicon in between. There's just that little rubber boot between the shifter and the leather shift handle. You're gonna be hearing some weird stuff. Throw some LT's in the mix and you'll wonder about some of the noises you'll hear from that area lol
