Clutch and Flywheel install = weird noises?

Ok, I just got my clutch and flywheel(Mcleod Stage 2 & SPEC aluminum flywheel) install the other day by ford. First, let me say that the clutch is a thing of beauty, the feel of it is so nice. :hail2:. now the noises I am hearing.

1. When I push in the clutch, pic a robot moving a arm and the sound that makes. this is what it sounds like. its not to loud, but noticeable and happens everytime I push the clutch pedal.

2. when I'm driving, in 3rd and 4th gear below about 2200-2300rpm there is a loud noise that comes from the tranny, almost sounds like its coming from where the shifter is, thats where I hear it. It goes away after I reach 2200ish rpms. From around 1600 up to 2200 rpms the noise gets louder depending on how hard I stomp on it. If i keep the throttle steady the noise is steady.

Any ideas on what it can be, is it just breaking in or what.. :shrug:. Thanks for the help guys.
 
well, I'm sure svttech with be able to help you more on this - but from experience, I just got my clutch done and I have no weird noises whatsoever. Just a little squeak from the linkage, but no bearing noise or anything. If I were you I would take it back to Ford and have them inspect it.
One thing you should definitely check is how they put your catback back on. Mine was slightly twisted, and the tail pipes were bouncing on the frame of the car. At around 2000 rpms the whole cabin vibrated like crazy! My guy jacked the car up, twisted the pipe a bit and voila! no more vibrations. This also cured a small exhaust leak I had where the X-pipe bolted to the catback (this sounded like a metallic tap when I started the car)

Thanks, I know for sure it not the exhaust. Its defiantly something with the cluch or flywheel. I have no clue what it would be though. :shrug:, anyone else have some ideas. I hoping it will go away.
 
is it a whining noise? I would check the fluid level and make sure there is enough fluid in the trans. many techs don't drain the trans fluid or recheck the level after the job is done.

and for the squeak. I hope it's the clutch cable, because if it is not then it's the clutch fork and pivot ball I have been going on and on and on about for months now. hardly any techs inspect the pivot ball and fork when doing a clutch and really I HIGHLY recommend you spend the 40 bucks to replace both when doing a clutch job.

and WHY would anybody ever even consider reusing a TOB
 
its a spec flywheel with a mcleod clutch. im thinking its the TOB and maybe the pivot ball. i put in a new clutch and 2 weeks later ended up putting a new fork in. im with svttech replace those when changing a clutch

when I got my clutch done, there was an Autozone replacement clutch in there - the TOB had been reused (stock), pilot bearing had been hammered in (came out in pieces) and the clutch disc was misaligned (1/2 of the disc was down to the metal, the other half looked newish). Great work... just showin you that people like to cut corners all too much.

I have been saying this for as long as I have posted here.

as a professional mechanic I can tell you some of the awfull things I hae seen co workers do. Not all techs are equal, the first thing I think of when I see chattering clutches and other problems is " did the tech tourqe the presure plate down with a impact gun? " or what other corner cutting hack stuff was done.

90+ percent of techs at the dealer or private shop will not check the pivot ball or fork for wear.

the service buisness is about one thing. SPEED. get them in bang them out and upsell some stuff on the way.
 
do you have an fire wall, or adj cable? im also having vibration problems after kc and flywhl replacement. my mech-bud, that replaced mine said I let the cable too loose for my feel, on the throw on the pedal? after we tighten the f/w adjer the vibation at 2000-2400 went away,,, well for about 2000 mi now its back, but not half as bad. from what I was told the TOB is probably bad. oh yea my TOB squeeels like hell:shrug: it has since about 200 mi after install, but like he said its from leaving no or little pressure on the TOB, we belive the TOB and swing arm are vibrating with the harmonicks of the driveline, since I left it soo loose. just my .02 at 3am oops 4am, time change

I guess it is sorta of a whining noise. Its hard to describe it. Maybe like a whining/shattering noise if that helps and its only at those rpms. I know they drained the fluid and refilled it and I did have a new TOB also. anythinh else what it might be. Is it possible that it might go away after so many miles. :shrug:

For the squeak, How would I know if its the clutch cable?

recheck the trans fluid level. not all techs are equal. and how do you know they changed it, did you watch?

I am not trying to be a jerk but I have worked as a tech for a long time and I have seen many people just toss the parts in there toolbox and say they did it.
