Clutch and flywheel upgrades on a 96 Cobra

My clutch finally went out at 88,000. But, it did make little warning noises for a couple of weeks and politely went out in a nice large parking lot only three miles from home so it could have been worse :) Since we have to replace it anyway I'd reckon we'll take the opportunity to upgrade. I'm leaning toward a Centerforce two with future mods in mind ( stock now ) but one shop I got quotes from said the pedal effort will be a lot heavier, even though the DualFriction.com site said it gave "Unparalleled frictional performance without heavy pedal feel". It's a daily driver and my wife and I switch back and forth on it. I don't mind the stock clutch effort but a lot more would be tough since I'm going to a gym again for the first time in years and my legs alREADY hurt every day :) Anyone had any experience with that clutch? We also were offered a Motorcraft high performance clutch upgrade from one shop but I havn't any experience with that either. Comments on either would be very welcome. I also guess it would be time to upgrade the flywheel, but have little experience there either. Any suggestions on what to look for there? Thanks! Mike

You might want to consider the Ford Racing 11" Clutch upgrade kit. It contains a new 11" flywheel, pressure plate, disk, and throw-out bearing for about $240.00. Ford claims something like 20% greater clamping force with little or no increased effort. I've installed the upgrade on my 96 Cobra Convertable and it runs great.
