Clutch cable and Tri-Y's.

the fox body cables come with a bracket that holds them to the inner fender. It is a flat piece of metal with a rolled end to secure it to the cable. Using a screwdriver, pry open the rolled end to allow the bracket to come off the cable. Install the cable as it would be in your car. Find wherever it is hitting the header and make note of the nearest oil pan bolt. You will need a slightly longer oil pan bolt to replace the short stocker. While you're at it, get a few washers. Shorten the bracket to your needs, drill an appropriately sized hole for the new oil pan bolt, and re-roll the end so it is secure around the cable. My cable is about 3/8" away from the header and it holds up fine, but of course the farther away the better. Put the new oil pan bolt through the modified bracket, then stack the washers on top of the bracket(they will allow the bracket to sit flush instead of on top of the oil pan lip). Hopefully that's not too confusing. If I had a digital camera I would take some pics, but you'll figure it out. Good luck.

The cable for the clutch cable is touching my Tri-Y's, and I am not sure how to fab up a braket that will hold it outta the way. I donno were to bolt it to, as the oil pan bolts don't look like they will work. Anyone got any pics of theres? How much of an air gap do I need here? Could I just wrap some header wrap around the headers were the cable touches and around the cable itself and leave it at that?

Been there and tried that. The cable with the header wrap will still burn through and ruin your cable. You have to make a bracket of some sort or "modify" your header to make the cable fit so that air passes though between the cable and the header. Take your time and do it right because once a cable housing is burnt it will never be the same.

I made two brackets to keep mine away from my headers - Id post a few pics of it but I cant get the 'insert image' function here to work
