i cant get that little screew/bolt out thats holding the bracket in place. it just spins and wont back out. is there a nut on the other side? im done with it for now. i installed a steeda quadrant and firewall adjuster, but then ran into the problem with the cable. i might give it another shot tomorrow. any suggestions?

Man, I cant remember what the bolt's threads were - do you know? If machine thread, there is a nut of some sort to capture the threads. If it was a sheet metal bolt (I thought it was), then it probably has a speed nut on the back side.

Did you try pulling on the clutch cable toward the pass side of the car as you unscrewed it? THat outward tension can help walk the fastener out.

Good luck.

The one I put in to hold the bracket was just a coarse thread sheet metal screw. I didn't use a nut at all. Like both you guy's said, best bet is to try and get some outward tension on it so it bites onto the metal and starts to unscrew.

If you tear the whole thing out of the fender, you used just a little too much force. :D

FWIW, I have yanked pretty hard on stuff to get it to bite again.

Good luck.
