Well, its one of those things that wears out, and you ingore and forget about it and deal for a while. I just replaced mine (cable), along with an aluminum quadrant and firewall adjuster and recommend it to anyone who is thinking about it, or has an original (old) cable. Symptoms included really heavy pedal and rough shifting. New stuff feels like a hydraulic clutch, smooth as silk now. Not bad to install, although I removed the pedal assy. to get at the original self adjusting mechanism. If you're thinking about it go for it, you'll be happy. Later, Pete
