Clutch cable snapped...still drove home...need help now though!!!

Well...I was cruising home from the gym on this beautiful 80 degree Sunday in So Cal, relaxing as I listened to the engine purr. The sound of Guns & Roses playing filled the interior as came to a smooth stop at a red light. Then as I slipped the pedal down toward the ground, a loud snap preceded the pedal smashing to the floor (Yes...Clutch cable). I cursed the damn thing , turned the hazards on, and then tried to figure out what I was going to do. After thinking about it for a second, I opted to drive the pony home anyway. I put the tranny into second gear, pushed the featherlight clutch pedal in (Wish it felt like that with a cable on it ), and fired her up. After a little stumble and lope, off she went and there I was shifting gracefully without the clutch. Thankfully I was no more than a few miles from home and I was able to cruise casually hitting green lights just about the whole way.

She's sitting pretty just washed in front of my house now, but I need to know what cable to put on, so this doesn't happen again. I have an aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster and a Mcleod clutch. The clutch pressure on the Mcleod is pretty heavy so whatever cable you guys think can handle it let me know. Also if you could point me in the direction of where to get it that would be greatly appreciated as well.

When you push the clutch down all the way, even without the cable, the car will start. In order for to move though, you have to start it while it's in gear (I started in second). It kind of shakes as if your going to stall, but if you hold the ignition and keep it starting for a second you will start moving. Then you can shift up and down without the clutch if you match rpm's. The only problem is if you stop completely, you have to turn it off, put it in gear, and start over.

Frankly, the fact that your in 80 deg. california weather makes me jealous and therefore I'd appreciate it if you did not mention it again.

Sorry to put off all of you on the east coast . I'll try to keep my gorgeous days to myself . Anyways I talked to D&D and he's said he'd give me a new cable for free. He said he's used a few different companies cables and the ones he has now seem to work well. He said that he has only heard of a few out of hundreds breaking. For free I can't beat it even if it does break again. I've had practice driving without it now anyway . I guess I'll give that another go and if it happens again I'm going to try the fms one. Thanks guys.
