clutch cable snapped today, whats the best one to buy??

ok today my cable snapped in the area where it comes out of the sheath at the bellhousing, so that last 5-6 inches of cable is off the car now.

i have a bbk firewall adjuster and a FRPP alum quadrant.

whats the best cable i should buy?? should i get an adjustable cable?? i have heard its a bitch to get adjusted with both an adjustable cable and a FWA

well i ended up with an adjustable on mine, i just adjusted the adjuster on the cable all the way in ( tight) and used the fwa from there........but, i have read if you have a fwa the best cable you can get is the stock ford piece.....

The OEM non-adjustable cable is best. 49 bucks shipped (or so) from Diversified.

Make sure your quadrant will allow using the stocker. I had an old school SVO quadrant and the stock cable would not work with it, due to the long throw (on the quad).

The Ford Adjustable cable is pretty decent (I used one with the SVO quad) - I would use one again without thinking twice.

Having a FWA and adjustable cable can be redundant, but I see NO reason why it would make adjustments difficult.

I had the SVO parts before the Steeda..Steeda is the way to go...

ive snapped 2 stock cables in 3 months. go with one from hays. ends are aluminum, not plastic. summit has them.

If it is the SVO aluminum quadrant, a stock Ford cable will not work.The cable will be too short or too long, can't remember which. I got the stock Ford cable and UPR Speed Release Single Pick-up Quadrant and their FWA. Never had a problem.

I've had 2 BBK cables, and they both suck. I broke the first one and Summit replaced since it was still under warranty. The new BBK cable worked good for about a month, then it was the same situation, hard as hell to open.

I use a UPR triple-hook quadrant and firewall adjuster with the factory cable.

It works real well and reduced pedal effort along with added durablility.
I had to hook the cable to the second (middle) hook because the cable is non-adjustable down at the fork and is factory length.

I snapped the UPR cable after only 6-8 months of use.
My stock cable has 15+ years on it and it's still in great shape.

The SVO quadrant has the longer throw, so the stock cable is not long enough.

It sounds like we used the same old stuff and now use the same new stuff (If so, I liked the SVO quadrant's long-throw a LOT better than the single hook UPR).

yesteday oreilys had one in stock, i went in expecting to order one and they had one so i got it. I needed my car ASAP, it was 30$ works good but it will be harder shift when cold and then after the car gets good and warmed up then the clutch will feel super smooth like a stock pedel.

anyone have their clutch get stiff when cold or when just starting to drive the car?? it also did it with the factory cable.

Mine snapped at the quadrant ... might have been getting battered by the 2nd and 3rd hooks
