Clutch cable snapped

My cable snapped on my way home from work yesterday. I had to push my car in the rain. Anyway i went underneath to check and it snapped from the fork. I get the new cable on tuesday along with a steeda quadrant. Any recomendations because i want it to be done right and avoid this from happening again. I have a king cobra clutch kit. My main concern is maybe the throwout bearing was thrown off?

This is going to be a backyard job

change the cable and you will be fine. The throwout is attached to the fork which rides on the inputshaft / bearing retainer.

The real question is why you pushed your car home instead of driving it? You do know you can drive the car by shifting without the clutch. At spot lights turn the engine off, place it in 1st gear then when the light turns green just use the starter to get things going. Yes its hard on the starter but it will get the job done.

PLEASE tell me you didn't just order an adjustable cable to replace your broken one. If so, you're bound to experience the same incident again, as those kinds of cables tend to snap on the clutch fork end...

A FORD non-adjustable cable with a firewall adjuster and an aluminum quadrant are the way to go. Period.

darkwriter is right. adjutable cables are garbage return it before its too late along with that quadrant. stock cable and mm quadrant and fwa is where its at. trust me on this one. i bought it and i won't go back and everyone i know that has felt my clutch ripped their bbk crap out and bought my set up.

I had the same problem with my old mustang it has the adjustable quadrant, i heard it was a good thing to have, dont know much about it but the cable snapped so i put my stock one back on it. I drove it home too!

I prefer the stock quadrant for a car that sees alot of miles.
Forgetting to adjust a firewall adjuster can be a very bad thing.
The KC clutch isn't all that hard on the leg.
IMO, get another stock cable, and put it in.

I also recommend the stock cable... I went through 2 aftermarket ones CRAP.. stock cable is the way to go!

"Forgetting" to adjust the FWA? I've had the clutch cable on the notch that I used to have (Frankenstang now owns it) set on almost the exact same spot as it was when I first put the FWA and UPR quadrant on there 3 years ago, and I've only had to adjust it once simply to suit my preference for where the pedal "catches." Constantly having to adjust the cable tension is usually a sign that the cable is stretching out, which is usually caused by:

1. A cheap aftermarket cable (usually the adjustable ones, or cheap-o non-adjustable OEM-wannabe replacements)
2. Improper routing of cable that results in binding (running it too close to the headers and such)
3. Misalignment or crappy quadrant fraying or stretching it out at the dash end of the cable.

i've always had steeda cables and they are by far the best.teflon lines so they are incredibly smooth and they take nowhere near as much effort as any other one.ive had a hays,piece of ****,bbk just like everything else they make-****.stock or steeda.my steeda was in my car for a 6yrs and change,just broke a few months ago.

Man i regret ordering the steeda kit. lol. i orderd a oem cable so when the steeda goes i'll put the oem cable in. Thanks guys
