My bro has a 04GT 5spd and I have a 02 5spd. Yesterday we were out driving around and we decided to swap cars so we could see what our own car looks like driving around. The only people that will understand why we did this are the one's that stare at their own car driving by a shop window to catch a reflection or turn to stare at your car 5 times while walking away from it

But while i was driving his car, i noticed his clutch is no where near as hard engaging as mine. It lets out really soft if that makes any sense. You start letting the clutch pedal out and then it starts engaging nice and easy until you get near the top where it fully engages. It makes it really smooth and easy to drive without the car bucking. He has 7K miles and doesnt beat on it and knows how to drive so isnt riding the clutch. I dont think his clutch is going out at all.

My clutch on my 02 that i bought with 10K miles and now has 27K miles. It engages really tough. I let out the pedal and bam, it engages really quickly and stiffly, and with the clutch pedal still no where near the top. It feels really strong and solid/quick engaging. Which sometimes results in bucking because of that.

Do you think my car possibly has an aftermarket clutch from the prev owner? Or does it sound normal for two cars with the same tranny to feel so different?

my 02 is the same way. my 01 is like you described your brothers. Although I have driven another 02 and it did not feel like my 02. Just my .02

Different cars feel differently. My 04 clutch is alot stiffer than a friend of mines, but alot softer than others i have driven. Alot of the pedal feel has to do with cable tension (pedal adjustment in a stock car), clutch fork spring tension against the pivot ball, and the clutch disk and pressure plate themselves.

cant wait to get rid of it...hope that helps.
