well... i got everything on my motor complete, and yesterday i was attachng my clutch cable to the fork, and it seems that SOMTHING is not right

the clutch fork will go forward like its suposed to, but theres very little resistance to it, and it wont spring back when you push on it... seems like it has alot of forward/backward play in it...

anyone have an idea on what it is, the only thing i can think of is that it somehow came out of the "ball and pocket" it was in, and i dont want to have to yank the motor again... please help

Hmmm
It may have come out alright. It might be easier to pull the tranny.
Also, could the throwout bearing have fallen out of the fork before the engine was mated to the tranny? That would cause a ton of play.
I'm just throwing out ideas. Most likely you will have to pull it apart again.

well, im more than sure that the ToB was in place around the input shaft of the tranny when i mated it to the block, i had to hold it in the fork and guide it onto the input shaft

i diddnt really even take the fork out of the bellhousing when i did my motor, just left it in there, so i dont know what anything inside of there looks like, or where its suposed to mount to... :bang:

it has alot of play in it though... theres no way to just wiggle it the right way to make it catch?

I'm by no means an expert on this, but if your fork has no resistance, then either it's out of the ball hinge and would be real loose, or the TOB fell out before the input of the trans went through it. I'm assuming that everything has been put back together. I know its too late now, but it is a good idea to check your fork movement before putting in the trans - ie it should be real easy to see the TOB against the clutch fingers and still have room for the clutch fork to move forward where it exits the bell housing. If that was all okay and then you insert the trans and now its all loose, it means the TOB has fallen off as you put the trans in.
You should be able to look in through the hole where the fork comes out of the bell housing and see the TOB if it is in place. Also see if you can take a photo and post it - that might help as well.

Good luck - I suspect you are going to have to pull it all apart again.
