i thought my clutch blew yesterday when i couldnt get my car into gear. when i looked at it i saw that my clutch cable was splitting. i got a new cable and when i was putting it on i noticed alot of play in the clutch fork. could this problem be more then just the cable? its a 92 5.0 with a t5 trany with only about 3,000 miles on it

The clutch fork will have some play in it when the cable is disconnected. Install the cable and go from there.
