got a 89 stang with a mcloud clutch and tko600 tranny and an adj. cable adj at the bell housing.....my problem is this when the tranny gets warm after a couple of passes it is near impossible to get this thing into ANY gear....and when it goes into gear even with the clutch pedel all the way to the floor the tranny seems to be engaged in gear cause the car rolls as if it was in gear and thats not good cause my launches become bad when i have to hold the brake just to keep it from rollin past the beams...do i loosen the nut on the cable or do i tighten it??

or any other ideas?

Mike's right about the adjustment. Do you have the cable routed close to the headers (a reason for it stretching)?

Good luck.

yeah, just tighten the cable some more. I had the same problem with my spec. I think the more heavy duty clutches tend to stretch the cable a little more and keeps the pedal from fully disengaging

well they are close but not too close....and i do live in phoenix so im sure its always cooking under that hood as far as heat goes.....i will try that out tomorrow and see what happens....it was killin me at the track:bang:
missing second and 3rd gears i was gonna flip.....thanx for the tips guys...

hey Mike do u think its ok to have te firewall adjuster and the other adjuster by the tranny too?? i heard it was either one or the other both give people problems....anywayz heres an update i tightened it a 1 full turn last night took the car on the highway after it was warm and ran threw the gears at WOT(which is a great experience everytime).....and it got alot better...i still have to adjust it a little more b4 i hit the track again but im happy right now

Check the bushing on the firewall, see if its collapsing.

Yes, its fine to have a FW adj and an adj cable. I've had that for years with no problems. Every few years I do have to change the cable though. From what I read, the non adj stock ford cable is the best.

ok well i went to Ford today and bought the oem clutch cable, ford racing FWA and the ford racing double hook quadrent, paid almost dealer prices cause i work for a local lexus dealer...paid 93 for everything!!!.....i will be installing it this probly wed night and keep u guys updated...i am also gonna wrap the long tubes and the clutch cable with the spark plug wire heat protection sleeves....so hopefully that will keep some heat off them
