Which clutch kit and flywheel should I get for my mustang. It's an 89GT and i don't think I ever plan on pushing much past 300hp. If it ever came to that, then I would begin to update parts as needed, but I don't think I will because 250-300rwhp to me is sufficient for my DD. That being said, I want a clutch that is good but isn't going to break the bank or my foot because it's so stiff. Please guide me in the right direction because this is my first time swapping the clutch on the 5.0. Thanks.

Something along the lines of the KC would likely work well for you, and pedal effort would be decent. People have reported that CF clutches have low pedal effort as well. I've driven one but it wasnt a stang (the pedal effort was minimal in that application however).

Good luck.

King Cobra would work fine. Spec would be a better choice though. Higher quality and SFI approved. I'd go Stage II for around 300 rwhp and I'd go with a Spec SFI steel flywheel. Especially if you're not running a scattershield it's best to run high quality clutches and flywheels to keep your feet intact. Even with 300 rwhp you can experience a nasty clutch explosion.

I just put my second Motorsport King CObra clutch in yesterday, after about 5 years of abuse, Its a great clutch, I only replaced it because, the non motorsport throwout bearing I installed with the new transmission froze up and destroyed the pressure plate. Granted, 95% of the time my car is on street tires running 12.40's , but I have a few 120+ mph nitrous passes on drag radials, and the cluthc never missed a beat... Excellent clutch for the money, 190 out the door, clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing.. also i have not had any chatter or anything, it engages very smooth, and has excellent pedal feel. ;-)
