Is $400 for clutch install including flywheel resurfacing a decent price?

I'm thinking of getting a King Cobra. The shop told me $600 for a Spec stage 1 installed. 2 different shops quoted me $400 for the install.

sounds about right.

I guess thats about right. Buddy of mine told me he charges like 200 bucks to drop the tranny and put it back in, so I guess when you figure in the resurfacing and actually putting in the clutch its somewhere around there. Thank goodness I'm still in HS and can do all that **** in auto for free

No jonJon, 400 is to much!
When I first had my stage 1 clutch installed like 4 months ago the total came out to $310.00 and that INCLUDED the resurfacing of the flywheel.

I am now about to have my King Cobra clutch installed on Tuesday by a diff shop. ( because the SPEC clutch sux and makes to much noise) And the guy is sayin about $280 for install and resurfacing of flywheel.

If i was you I would research more.

Damn, wish I was still in MA... Where are you going to get the King Cobra installed?

I don't any shops down here in Maryland so I posted in the Mid-Atlantic forum here. People suggested the 2 places I called and quoted me $400.

I don't know but I'd pay that much if I were sure it would be done correctly. I've done clutches on numerous vehicles, Mustangs included, and I'm getting too old to do it in my driveway.

I've done 74 340 Dart sport, 69 GTO, 85 Toyota 4wd, 80 Audi 4000, 89 5.0 LX. As I recall the biggest PITA was repairing a broken stud from the 5.0L header. :bang:

I'm retireing to doing only fun stuff on the top of the motor, blowers and heads and so forth:D.
