So i am having the clutch installing in my mustang n i am having this "mobile mechanic" do it. He said i should also change the "rear main seal" cause its a few extra bolts in the same area. Later that night i spoke to a guy at my job n he said that if this "mobile mechanic" installs the seal wrong it will cause my motor to knock. is that true?? I am super worried about this install after hearing that.

The rear main seal is super easy to put in. The hard part is getting to it. He is already going to be there with the clutch, flywheel, and pilot bearing/bushing. A firewall adjuster, new cable and an aluminum quadrant is always a good idea. NAPA sells a nice cable , btw.

Engine knock is caused by too much advance in timing, poor fuel quaility, carbon build up in combustion chamber. The only thing that could possibily happen is an oil leak which is not good either. Don't worry if this guy is a good mechanic there shouldn't be a problem. I did mine with no problems. I would suggest you change the input bearing retainer for a steel one If your car has some miles on it, it is on its way out. The factory ones are alum.

installed wrong will leak oil .... motor will not knock unless the reasons listed above or runs too low on oil from the leak I wouldn't be worried
