the stang made an awful noise this morning when i crunk it. noise died down, and i drove about 30 miles to a nearby town. stopped car for about 3 hour and i crunk it up and the sound was back. stepped on the clutch and the sound heightened. a sqeal and grind, the sound of the grind is similar to brake pads going out. is this the clutch or what? thanks

Its not uncommon for them to waer out...if the miles arent to high and the clutch seems to be ok, then just swap out the bearing....money thing I guess..the TOB is under 20.00..

gotta pull the shifter, drop the DS, pull the tranny out...swap out the bearing...its fairly straight forward...you may wanna have someones whos done that kinda stuff if its your first time...depends on your wrenching i guess...shop would prolly charge 150.00 min to do it...maybe more??

it was the throwout bearing. i had the entire clutch kit put in anyway. 175 dollars worth of labor. the clutch don't feel as tight anymore, what's up with that? is it suppose to be tight or loose, or is it the driver's preference and it can be adjusted accordingly?

I don't know what you mean by tight? Most aftermarket clutches have a heavier pedal feel than the stocker, perhaps you had an aftermarket in there and who ever did the instal put a stock replacement back in. If you still have the stock quadrant, simply pull up on the clutch pedal to adjust it, if you hear it click then it needed adjusted, if not then its fine.
