A 2002 5spd VW Jetta..

My buddy was driving on a highway, say 120km/h (75mph or so), in 5th gear.. not beating on the car or anything. As he approached a stop sign, he put the clutch in, got on the brakes, and tried to throw it in 1st (still holding the clutch in until the stop sign). The car wouldn't slip into gear, and he felt a popping/pulsating in the clutch pedal as it lost some pressure and felt very different.

Now, every time the clutch is depressed you get a pulsating feeling and noise from under the hood, and the clutch does not work at all. I drove the car home by starting it in gear and drifting the gears until we got home.

Anybody have any idea's?

Thanks.

dont forget to check the slave cylinder. they seem to go out more frequently than M/C's (seals fry due to the heat). good luck.
