Just bought a 2001 GT. Was in a collision and sat for a while. I got the car cheap when i picked it up just drove it right on the trailor. Has adjustable clutch cable, stage 3 clutch, Was gonna drive it down the street b4 i tore it down and cannot get it in gear. Grinds in 1st every single time and will not go in any other gear. Ive adjusted clutch cable all over the place but doesnt help. Only way you can get it in gear is to shut the car off and put it in gear. clutch, throwout bearing?? Whats the problem and what all should i try?
Thanks

If it has a aftermarket shifter the stops could be adjusted wrong or a little tight. It really just sounds like it is out of adjustment....

Check to see if the car has a aftermarket clutch quadrant in it, if so put the cable on the hook closest to the driver. Then go underneath and adjust the cable so it just puts tension on the fork. If you push inside you should feel it release about the height of the brake pedal, if is goes further towards the floor turn the nut in further on the cable underneath the car. If the clutch disengages at the top of the pedal the cable is too tight and you need to loosed the nut...

Check the fluid level also....

and it doesnt have an aftermarket quadrant, so can i still try adjusting it at the quadrant or is there something else i should try?

The stock quadrant is not adjustable, check the fluid level first then back the adjustable stopd out on the shifter and back the cable way out and start over with adjustment.

I put my foot under the clutch. i picked it up as far as i could towar the driver seat. Started it up and goes in and out of every gear perfect. should i still be worried or just drive it?

That is how you reseat the stocker....never had one that far out however. Where does the clutch engage and disengage at, about brake pedal height? If so drive it or adjust it a little to your liking with the cable...

guess i spoke to soon. i had the driveshaft out when i got it shifting good. Put driveshaft back in and it wont shift now. with the clutch on the floor u can try to ease it into gear and the wheels start spinning. That is with my foot on the floor. Any ideas of what i should do?
