When I am at idle, I can hear a whine. When I depress the clutch, the whine/whurr goes away. Let up on the clutch... whine comes back. Is this a sign of my clutch going bad. Could this be related to this thread also?

you probably have 3-4 months of easy driving at a pace of about 12k miles per year. thats how long mine lasted after beginning to squeal. you can replace it yourself for like 20 bucks or something, a shop MIGHT charge like 200-300 for labor, I am not sure about that. I like to do my own work. Dropping midpipe, driveshaft, and tranny = easy with the right tools. Just need to break those bolts loose with a breaker bar. you will also need a set of extensions and swivels/u-joints(whatever those things are called) a transmission jack with some tie-down straps helps a lot. good luck!

I been going with mine for about 4-5 months. I dont think it will do any damage. To replace it you have to drop the tranny. So depending if you can to it yourself it will cost you $10-15 for a new TOB, if you have to have someone esle do it will be close to $500-600 depening on the labor.
