I have a 92 4 cylinder with a 5spd. the short clutch cable keeps snaping on me. this is the 4th one i'm on this year! My clutch is shot and i have to keep adjusting it by lifting up on the clutch pedal (still has stock quadrant) so could this be why it keeps breaking cause the clutch is shot and by readjusting it it puts to much tension on the cable? peace

Is it breaking in the same place every time? If so, that would be the place to start.

aha, I just re-read your question. A new clutch would definately help. I actually had a clutch pedal snap in a '78 Cobra II one time from all the tension. I replaced the clutch (and welded the pedal) and things got a lot smoother. I'll let someone with a little more expirence chime in, because the 4-spd II's are completely different beasts. I've never had a stick in a fox.

Those stupid short cables are a pain in the ass. Even the cheap ones are like $8 each, but if you buy those they don't last any time at all.

Last time mine broke on my Mustang, I put in a 1/4" bolt in its place, with two nuts on the end locked together so they wouldn't come off. It held up for at least a year until I stopped driving the car.
