paulding, ga.
i just installed an FRPP clutch quadrant and adjustable cable, and my clutch pedal sticks to the floor. If i try to bring it up it just falls down? Ive tightened the nut on the end of the cable both ways and got no difference... :(
thanks :nice:

is it falling down from weight or from the cable being too tight???

ditch the adjustable cable and put the oem cable back on with a firewall adjuster.

What you are describing is almost impossible if you have it setup right. Be sure the cable is hooked onto the quadrant, and hooked onto the clutch fork under the car. If it's hooked at both ends, the quadrant is properly pinned onto both pins, the clutch pedals will NOT fall to the floor.

does it stick to the floor, and if you pull it up it snaps back down?? If so, somethings binding and pulling it back down.

you could have misrouted your clutch cable. Be sure it goes straight out, past the shock tower, then routes down and UNDER the car right where the steering rack and oil filiter is.

I have the Ford quadrant & adjustable cable and have no problems. I have been using it for over 3 years now, and am quite satisfied with the way it works.

Are you sure the cable is seated in the groove in the quadrant? Is all the slack adjusted out of the cable? There is some preload on the cable when it is properly adjusted to keep it in place on the quadrant.

the clutch fork has resistance right? like if you get under and push on it, you cant move it with your hand?

you're not running a hydraulic set up with a bad slave cylinder? J/K - that happens with hydraulics.

Sounds like the advice given so far should help but maybe there is a bad kink in the cable that is causing it to get stuck? Is it always "stuck" or just for awhile then tight again? Good Luck

Well, I had an aftermarket adjustable cable in my car for 3mo. then the sheathing melted on the inside and it would stick so badly, the clutch couldn't pull it back into place. I have no idea what caused it to do this, it was routed the same as the stocker and it has worked fine since the car was new.

When i put the stock cable back in, (thank god i saved it!)I used a double hook quad and a firewall adjuster. This is a much better setup imo. I can adjust the clutch from up top, and the 14 year old stock cable still works like a champ.
