My clutch is extremely tight. I had a 1996 Cobra a few years back and I know the clutch was a little tight with it, but I think the clutch in my GT is really tight. (By tight I mean the pedal is hard to push) Is this normal, or is it a sign that something is going wrong? Any ideas on what I should do? Do I need a new clutch, or should I quit worrying? It doesn't slip at all. I have no complaints as far as the performance of the clutch, but it is so tight that my wife won't even drive the car. What should I do!

It is a 2000 with 84,000 miles. That is all I know. I have only had the car a couple months.

The clutch cable could be weak and binding...

My GT's clutch is extremely light and easy to push.

All my Mustang buddies who drive 5.0's and 94-98 Mustangs always hop in and remark about how light it is and how they almost pushed it through the floor.

The clutch pedal in my 97 GT is extremely light, and I'm sure the 2000 GT should feel the same. On a side note, you wouldn't believe how tight the pedal is in my 66 GT, my leg starts to burn after holding it down for a while, but that's norm for that year.

Any idea how to fix it??? Should I replace the clutch cable???? My clutch in my Cobra started getting tight and the clutch cable actually broke. I changed the cable and it was just as tight after the new cable. Shortly there after, (I had already sold the car and a dealer let someone test drive it and the kid was really dogging the car from what I understand) the tranny went. Was that just a coincidence or should I be worried? I shifts fine, and the clutch doesn't slip at all. WHAT DO I DOOOOO!!!!?????

I think its normal. Mine is pretty tight, even before I added the quadrant and firewall adjuster. You may want to try and pull up hard on your clutch pedal, as it has an "auto" adjusting feature that doesnt really work to good, this might help soften it up a bit..
