Hello,

I have an '03 GT, still has the stock clutch with over 70k miles and works great. I need to replace the clutch with something less stiff. I need a clutch that has very minimal resistance, similar to the new BMW clutches.

From what I read it sounds like Centerforce might be my best bet. I drive in traffic daily (Los Angeles), and at this point it's either I sell my car or get a clutch that isn't so stiff.

Recommendations and feedback are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Honestly if stock is too stiff..... not much else out there. It is a stang, not a bmw...

Anyway u can try a centerforce but I think your going to find its not much less than stock.

If the stock one is too stiff, you are too used to hydraulic clutches in Honda's/BMW/or the new Mustangs. It is almost impossible to find one that isn't less stiff as the stock one, but one with a lightweight PP, like Spec or Centerforce should be the two you are looking at. I would think that a DFX, Spec stage 1, or RAM HDX are all the same pedal feel. Also, replace your adjuster setup with the kit from Maximum Motorsports, that will allow you to move the engagement closer to you if you like it that way or vice versa.

I feel your pain though, I used to drive a Camaro that had a 4 puck in it to hold the LS1 Powa! It was a pain in Tampa traffic the two times I went to Buccaneers games. If you cannot stand driving the car with the stock clutch, why did you purchase the vehicle in the first place?

Doesn't sound like you are going to find much luck. I would just stick with the Ford stocker for what you want to accomplish. I just upgraded to a Ford Racing Cobra clutch in my GT and it isn't much harder than stock. Just a little bit. But, I can definitely tell a difference.

Lol well i don't know about you but stick to stock if you want better then stock King Cobra but either or there both crap. Center force is ok but not for stop and go traffic. Better clutchs usually mean more hurtin on your trans.

not having a newer mustang...I have to ask...are they cable clutches? if so you could always do a hydraulic clutch conversion...I'm sure that would help out quite a bit...not sure if there are any kits available, but anything can be fabricated...and as far as hydraulic clutches go, its not too difficult of a job, after much consideration, I'll be using one ion my '66(mainly for better reliability and header/downpie clearance)

Up to 04 there cable and i heard doing a hydraulic set up is a bitch. My friend did it to his 93 LX with a LS1 in it and he said it was hard. You can do it but don't know if you wanna find someone to do it.

its pretty simple with a t5 anyway(there are a few kits out there...or partial kits), not sure about a t45 or 3550 though, I guess with a cable quadrant car it might be a bit more difficult than with our classics(still shouldn't be though because the quadrants unbolt right? that would make it simple to connect a pushrod for the master, as long as the arc remains correct, which is a problem for classics too)
